One of the jets belonging to Zimbabwe Airways and purchased with taxpayer funds from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe will be landing in Harare tomorrow. This comes after President Emmerson Mnangagwa ordered all the planes bought by Zimbabwe Airways to be brought home. Mnangagwa also ordered an investigation to look into who really owns the new airline as its ownership is still shrouded in mystery, although former president Robert Mugabe and his family have been alleged to be behind the deal.
A letter from the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) acting corporate Secretary reads:
The Authority wishes to advise that one Boeing 777 aircraft under Zimbabwe Aviation Leasing Company (ZALC) will arrive tomorrow, 11 April 2018 at 1200 hours from Malaysia.
The Guest of Honour at the reception will be Honourable Minister P. Chinamasa. The CAAZ Board Member Members are invited to attend the reception. The programme of events will follow.
Aviation expert Jerry Haas tweeted
