The trial of Chinese nationals Luo Tin Gpen, Li Yize and their alleged accomplice, Gamuchirai Nigel Zuze failed to take off yesterday after the state could not find a Mandarin interpreter. The trio is facing attempted murder charges after they shot Zanu-PF MP Keith Guzah’s son Kevin Guzah and his girlfriend Kudzanai Nduku in a case of mistaken identity, thinking that the two were responsible for an earlier robbery.
Guzah was discharged from Parirenyatwa Hospital after undergoing surgery to remove bullet fragments. However, his girlfriend Nduku was accompanied by Emras Ambulance Services personnel. She was on a wheel chair amid reports that she has been hospitalised ever since she was shot in February.
Prosecutor Rudo Chasi told Harare regional magistrate Hosea Mujaya,
Your worship, the chief interpreter has advised us that a Chinese interpreter may only be available this Thursday and on that note, we seek that the matter be postponed to that date.
You can watch CCTV Footage of the shooting here.
