HIT Students Demonstrate Over Gigs and WiFi

Harare Institute of Technology students demonstrated against conditions that they said they are not happy about.

A female student who spoke to 263Chat on condition of anonymity said there is no WiFi in there hostels. Said the female student:

We are today protesting against issues that are not making us happy. For example WiFi is limited. We don’t have WiFi in our hostels yet we pay $300 per semester or even $450. Some of the conditions are we move furniture almost everyday. Our library is so small, its like a toilet and you expect us to fit in there and produce better results. Hapana mafaro, opening bash hapana and yet you expect us kuti tisaite musikanzwa. That’s why tichingoita nhumbu dzacho beacuse zvakadhakwa. (There is no opening bash and yet you expect us to behave. That’s why we get pregnant.

Another female student complained that they are doing 10 modules which she equated to 10 high school subjects. She complained that this not sustainable. She also complained that the food that is offered at the school canteen is bad and is offered in bad plates. Some students said that there are no sporting activities despite them paying a sports fees every semester.

  1. You should get your facts right..this is bullshit,
not why we protested these are minor issues.
please consider better sources when drafting your articles,, you are a respectable website,

  2. Why dwell on petty issues yet some students talked of resources for projects which is what brought all students together. Do you really think engineers would unite to only demonstrate for those two issue

  3. This is gutter journalism, your facts are wrong and fees is more than double that and besides u missed real issues. U think we would demonstrate for gigs. am disappointed and now know that u are fake news

  4. HIT students pay up to $810 school fees per semester depending on programes that one is doing, which is higher than even that of School of Health Sciences at University of Zimbabwe. Then the question is what’s special that they are getting at HIT as compared to those other Unis? Nothing!!!
HIT makes use of resources from other institutions.
Laboratories need equipments and reagents to allow students do their projects and other teaching purposes.
Lecture rooms do not even have enough equipment leading to student moving chairs and desks from lecture into another, PATHETIC!
    Yes WiFi is very limited
The library has very few resources and very small
