United States of America Senators Jeff Flake and Chris Coons who introduced a bill to lay the framework for U.S. relations with the new government in Zimbabwe, met with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and Foreign Affairs Minister Sibusiso Moyo at Munhumutapa Buildiung today.
Responding to Reuben Barwe’s question on whether sanctions on Zimbabwe will be reviewed earlier than February next year, Senator Coons said the reviewing of sanctions was not based on one thing. He however highlighted that USA is ready to partner with Zimbabwe. Said Coons:
It’s just about one date, it’s not just about the election or one thing here and one thing there and it should not be measured only in whether one piece of the sanctions is lifted on one day. We discussed many concrete things we can do together to strengthen and making brighter the future of Zimbabwe and to make America a stronger and better partner in that and so there are many days that we should be looking forward to marking and following and hopefully celebrating together.
The two senators want the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act of 2001 to be amended and tougher conditions set out for sanctions to be lifted.

Its good that USA Senators: Cdes Coos and Flake have visited Zimbabwe and witnessed it that HE, President Mnangagwa’s government is observing the rule of law and other democratic processes. It would be highly commendable if the two USA Senators on Foreign Affairs gave Cde Trump: USA President an accurate, balanced and truthful report on tneir observation of democratic processes in beautiful, safe, secure and very stable Republic of Zimbabwe. This is so that removes USA President, Mr Trump removes ZIDERA (2001), which he will do based on an informed basis (report from his two Senators on foregn affairs, who are currently in Zimbabwe). ZIDERA has for certain crippled Zimbabwe’s economy. Lord have mercy on Zimbabweans!! Have mercy too Lord on our President, Cde ED Mnangagwa and his governmen who are spending sleepless nights since 24 November 2017, doing their utmost best to mend the collapsed economy in this beautiful republic.What is your take, in all fairness, if you may also kindly give me a feedback.
