Zapu leader Dumiso Dabengwa has claimed that the ruling Zanu-PF is behind at least 80 political parties which have been registered with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to participate in the upcoming 2018 harmonised elections. Dabengwa claimed that Zanu-PF was sponsoring the parties in order give the polls legitimacy if the opposition parties fulfil their threats to boycott the polls. ZEC has revealed that more than 100 political parties have registered so far.
Addressing the media at the Bulawayo Media Centre on Thursday, Dabengwa said,
We are looking at the election and making our minds. Remember, there are over 100 opposition parties that have now been formed and I can assure you that 80 percent of them are state sponsored.
Taking into account that some major opposition parties decide to boycott the elections, that 80% will contest the elections and of course they will lose.
So, the opposition has to weigh the situation very closely. They need to look at the rigging tactics. Fortunately, most of the rigging tactics have been exposed. Right now, 60 to 80 percent of the rigging machinery can be countered. The remaining percentage has got little effect.

It seems opposition does not know how to win elections, always hiding behind rigging which they dont have evidence for. If opposition is competant how come they have not found out how elections are rigged?
Zanu pf has expelled a lot of its members including those that were thought to be kingpins but still wins elections. When Jonathan was expelled previusly from the party he went on to contest as an independent and won the tsholotsho seat. He he knew that Zanu pf rigs he was not going to waste his time but he went ahead to contest and won. Please opposition dont seek sympathy from this unsubstantiated rigging. These things are legal and allegations without evidence dont work. Opposition full of lawyers that behave like us ordinary people when it comes to politics. You just dont have enough depth to match Zanu pf machinery. Mdc expects miracles in a few months, no it does not work that way. Where is mdc when there are no elections? Virtually nowhere. Where is Zanu pf when there are no elections, interacting with people everyday giving out inputs giving out land and so forth. Its simple regular voters are those that have a direct benefit from an election. Who is a regular voter in Zimbabwe? Someone who has benefited from Zanu pf, and who are those? Rural and resettled people, and these form the majority of voting population. Simple
