By 2030 Zimbabwe Must Be A Middle-Income Country Says Mnangagwa

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said that he is working on transforming Zimbabwe so that it becomes an economic giant in a short period of time and so that it will become a middle-income country by 2030. This comes a few days after the end of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s first 100 days in office which were slammed by some quarters as a failure. The president’s supporters, on the other hand, have called for people to be realistic saying that nothing much can be achieved in 100 days. Speaking at Univern Enterprises in Harare, Mnangagwa said:

In some areas, I think we are at the top of the ladder in terms of the modernity of the technology we have. That is the way to go and that is where we are going.

We cannot remain mediocre; this is why we say Zimbabwe is open for business because we want to catch up, to leapfrog and catch up with other countries.

And my mantra now, besides Zimbabwe is open for business, is that by 2030 we must be a middle-income country.

And the potential is such that it is possible to achieve if everybody realises that they have a role to play to achieve such a goal; it is better for everybody and it’s good for everybody.
