MDC-T deputy treasurer, Charlton Hwende has accused the party’s secretary general Douglas Mwonzora of being at the centre of the problems bedeviling Zimbabwe’s biggest opposition party.
MDC-T is embroiled in a leadership dispute with the party’s deputy presidents Nelson Chamisa, Elias Mudzuri and Thokozani Khupe vying for the top post which fell vacant with the passing on of Morgan Tsvangirai. Writing on Facebook, Hwende accused Mwonzora of causing confusion in the party and called for action against him. Said Hwende:
We know that Douglas Mwonzora is at the centre of all problems now being faced by the party. He initially used Mudzuri to claim the acting presidency and he has now dumped him. He is now using Khupe to claim the same, he wants to destroy the MDC-T before joining the Mujuru led coalition. He was promised the second vice president when they met in Cape Town recently. We must stop him from destroying the legacy and the MDC of Morgan Tsvangirai.
