Mike Madiro, the ruling Zanu-PF party chairperson for Manicaland province, told a recent party extraordinary provincial coordination committee that Zanu-PF needs to keep its supporters informed, especially those in remote regions. He claimed that almost 600 youths from Chipinge were shocked to learn that former President Robert Mugabe was no longer in power. Said Madiro,
We had meetings in Chipinge District and in some areas such as Mahenye our cadres did not even know that President Mugabe was no longer in office. They were shocked to hear the news that President Mugabe is no longer in power. Close to 600 youths were also shocked that the party has rebranded cars.
