Called by Radio presenters KVG and Phatisani today on their 3 to 6 radio show, most Harare residents and kombi operator professed ignorance to the city Kombi Ban that comes into effect tomorrow.
Starting tomorrow, 21 February, all kombis will be prohibited from entering the Harare city center. Kombis that were using the Copa Cabana and Market Square ranks have been moved to the Coventry Road Rank. Kombis that were using the Charge Office rank have been moved to the Seke Road rank which is close to the Coca-Cola Corner.
The radio presenters also called the Harare City Corporate Communications Manager, Michael Chideme, live during the show to ask if enough awareness activities had been carried to ensure Harare residents were made aware of the ban.
Chideme responded saying while an awareness campaign had been carried out, Kombis ranking in the city had always been illegal and that as a result, it is unreasonable for people to act surprised.
