In an interview with The Herald, Zanu-PF secretary for war veterans Victor Matemadanda praised the late former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s contribution to Zimbabwean politics after independence.
Matemdanda praised Tsvangirai’s efforts and added that it is unfortunate that he will not be able to witness the democratic Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa is building. Said Matemadanda:
I came here representing war veterans and ex-detainees. We recognise Mr Tsvangirai’s efforts in creating a democratic nation. It is unfortunate that he has left us, but President Emmerson Mnangagwa has already begun creating a democratic Zimbabwe. We have seen President Mnangagwa coming to see him, and that was a sign of his commitment to create a democratic and peaceful Zimbabwe. It is unfortunate that Mr Tsvangirai is no longer with us.
Matemadanda said when he last talked to Tsvangirai, they discussed the need for a free and fair election. Matemadanda also thanked Government for a State-assisted funeral.
