Mnangagwa Congratulates New SA President Ramaphosa

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has congratulated his South Africa counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa for being sworn in as his country’s fifth president. Ramaphosa was sworn in on Thursday after Jacob Zuma finally resigned on Wednesday, ending a weeks-long power struggle.  The two neighbouring countries have had a change of leadership within months after the fall of former long-term president Robert Mugabe in November.

Speaking on Twitter, Mnangagwa said:

My very warmest congratulations to President Cyril Ramaphosa.

His excellence and persistence have now earned him the leadership of his people. Zimbabwe sends its very best wishes to him and his administration. We look forward to strengthening more our ties. Congratulations!
