Zanu-PF National Political Commissar Retired Lieutenant General Engelbert Rugeje said that legislators from Masvingo Province were not qualified to become Ministers. He said that President Emmerson Mnangagwa was finding it difficult to appoint the legislators to ministerial positions because most of them did not possess the requisite academic qualifications. Addressing supporters at Nyika growth point, two weeks ago Rugeje said:
We have cried for a long time asking why people from Masvingo are not given ministerial posts. We should know that being a minister is not a walk in the park and it is different from sharing opaque beer.
It is a task that requires mental capabilities and strong academic backgrounds.
Masvingo and Midlands Province are regarded as President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s strongholds.
