MDC-T In Debt As It Fails To Raise Funds

The opposition MDC-T party is reported to be in financial trouble as it is in massive debt. The party is failing to raise funds which has resulted in it failing to pay off creditors, some of whom are threatening to attach its assets. Last year, the party had some of its assets by a former worker, after failing to settle $108 951, after losing a labour dispute. News of the debt has not gone down well with some members considering that this is an election year.

Speaking to NewsDay on the matter, party spokesperson Obert Gutu said:

The liquidity crunch that is wreaking havoc in Zimbabwe is sparing no one, the MDC included. It is not a secret that just like any other organisation operating in Zimbabwe at the moment, the MDC has got its own share of financial woes.

However, we are managing to get by and, in fact, we have structured an arrangement with various creditors to enable a payment plan to be effected to liquidate our debts. It is business as usual at Harvest House and indeed all activities are proceeding well.
