Zanu-PF Commissariat To Come Up With "Official Code Of Slogans," To Prevent Another Grace Scenario

The ruling Zanu-PF party has announced that its department of the commissariat is going to meet to come up with an official code of party slogans. The move is reportedly meant to prevent attention seeking spouses from abusing their partners’ leadership positions and the party like had been happening under former first lady Grace Mugabe. Under the previous regime, slogans such as  “Pamberi naDoctor Grace Mugabe” (Viva Doctor Grace Mugabe), “Munhu wese kunaAmai” (Everyone should support Mother) became popular with some members of Zanu-PF.

Zanu-PF Deputy National Commissar Omega Hungwe is quoted by TellZim as saying:

Iyo nyaya yema slogan tinoda kutoigarira pasi secommissariat. Kuhondo vanhu vakanga vakadzidziswa slogan kuti ndiyo yatinoteedzera haikona dzanga dzakuitika idzi.  (As the commissariat, we are currently seized with the issue of slogans, and we are going to discuss it. During the liberation war, people were taught the proper slogans to use, not the ones we were now hearing)

Tiri kutouya nayo and kana yauya mapolitburo members motibetsera. Hakuna mukadzi wemutungamiriri anonzi pamberi naye. Uri aniko iwe? (We are going to bring the issue of slogans to the Politburo, and when we do so, the Politburo should help us. In future, no wife of any political leader should be hailed. Who are they?)
