Video: UK Makes £5m Contribution To Civil Society Organisations For Free And Fair Elections

The United Kingdom’s Foreign Office has announced that it will be contributing £5 million to civil society organisations. The money will be used to support the 2018 harmonised elections to make sure that they free, fair and inclusive. This follows the first visit by the UK’s new Minister For Africa, Harriet Baldwin.

Baldwin arrived in the country yesterday and met with various political and business leaders as the UK and Zimbabwe seek to re-engage. Today she met with President Emmerson Mnangagwa and talked about his plans to stabilise the economy as well as political reforms and free and fair elections.

Said Baldwin:

I look forward to working with the people of Zimbabwe for a prosperous future.
