Mujuru Reveals Details On Mugabe Meeting

During an interview with Studio 7, National People’s Party (NPP) leader Joice Mujuru revealed she visited former president Robert Mugabe at his Borrowdale home on Tuesday.

She revealed the details surrounding the visit and said that the nonagenarian told her he was misled into firing her. Said Mujuru:

Izvino ndakuzotaurwa neni na VaMugabe kuti aiwa zvinhu zvinofanirwa kunge zvakafamba mune zvakanaka handiti kuona kuti vakanga vaudzwa zvisizvo. (Mugabe revealed to me that things should have gone differently and he was misled into firing me.)

Vachitokurukura neni kuipa kwezvinhu kuti hazvina kufamba zvakanaka vakanyeperwa.

Mujuru was fired from Zanu-PF by Mugabe in 2014 for attempting to illegally remove him from power, corruption, colluding with the party’s enemies and sowing divisions in the party. Mugabe accused Mujuru of visiting traditional healers and performing rituals in a bid to install herself as the country’s leader.

She said Mugabe knows that the transition that led to Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ascendancy is illegitimate. Said Mujuru:

(He knows that what happened is illegitimate. He is surprised that some of the people whom he thought know that the gun cannot lead politics are doing so.)
