Eaglesvale School Clashes With Mugabe Family Over Seized Land
Former president Robert Mugabe’s family is alleged to have seized land belong to Eaglesvale School. The 23-hectare piece of land which is located in Borrowdale was reportedly donated to the school by the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) almost four decades ago and registered under Eaglesvale Daisyfield Trust (EDT). However, the land was allegedly grabbed by former first lady Grace Mugabe with the help of former minister of Local Government Ignatius Chombo, when Mugabe was still in power. Grace has been using the land to produce maize.
The EDT which is reported to be planning to build a campus on the land returned to the land last week and erected a billboard on it. However, the billboard was pulled down within days after the Mugabes visited the land and ordered it to be taken down.
A witness who spoke to the daily publication, NewsDay, said:
His security team, comprising of four men, went to Borrowdale Police Station and came back in the company of some police officers.

I just heard they called Eaglesvale officials, who sent some men to unlock the gate to the property, which they had locked.
The security team then pulled down the poster.
National police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed the matter although he said that it was a civil dispute. Said Nyathi
This matter is civil involving two parties, who are engaging each other. Police were simply notified and no police officer took part save for advising them to engage each other.
Mugabe has been accused of leasing out land that he had seized to white farmers.
