Zimbabwe Is Open For Business Declares Mnangagwa Ahead Of Davos

Ahead of Zimbabwe’s inaugural appearance at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, President Emmerson Mnangagwa declared that Zimbabwe was open for business. Speaking at a conference hosted by the Zimbabwe Business Club on Thursday, Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe is open for business and that it is open to reengagement with countries that had are currently not on good terms with Zimbabwe. Said Mnangagwa:

What that means to each one of us may be different but at the end of the day, Zimbabwe is open for business.

We shall keep our old friends but we are open to those who were hostile to us.

The president also asked the media to move away from the past where everything was always seen and reported from a political angle. The president implored the media to focus on business instead. He also said that the Special Economic Zones (SEZ) were going to be open to all investors, both foreign and domestic.

Mnangagwa also said that he welcomes criticism although he added that it is important to provide alternatives when criticising, instead of just criticising. Said Mnangagwa

It is easy to criticise, but not easy to proffer solutions for those problems.

The president also added that he listens to criticism from the opposition because it “helps us to correct mistakes and stay longer in power.”
