Moyo Says CIO Officer Was Killed During Military Intervention, Disputes That It Was Bloodless

Former cabinet minister Professor Jonathan Moyo has continued with his attacks on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’ administration accusing them of killing a Central Intelligence Organisation officer during the November military intervention. Moyo has long disputed the assertion that Operation Restore Legacy was pulled off without any loss of life, as has been portrayed. Instead, the former minister who is in hiding in an undisclosed country said that President Mnangagwa and his deputy Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, are fully aware that Peter Munetsi, the District Intelligence Officer for Harare was killed “in their bloody coup.” Moyo went into exile after former president Robert Mugabe resigned after the Zimbabwe Defence Forces under Chiwenga, seized power in a military intervention codenamed Operation Restore Legacy.

Using one of his favourite and perhaps few remaining platforms for communicating his views, Twitter, Moyo said:

Where is Peter Munetsi (DIO Harare, CIO)? Mnangagwa and Chiwenga know he is dead; killed in their bloody coup on 15 November 2017. Many others were killed, tortured, raped or displaced internally or externally and property looted or destroyed

Moyo also disputed that former president Robert Mugabe had resigned of his own volition. To support this assertion, Moyo quoted president Spokesperson George Charamba who said that Mugabe had been warned that he risked dying like former Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi, who was captured and shot to death by rival forces after he was caught hiding in a drainage pipe. Said Moyo:

Zimbabwe Coup Government confirms President Mugabe RESIGNED at ‘GUNPOINT’ as Army set a GADDAFI TRAP “with a CHILLING msg”!

…For the record, Charamba didn’t draft the resignation letter as Presidential Spokesperson but as Secretary of the ‘Command Element’. He was not a negotiator or mediator as he claims. Rather he was a MESSENGER of the ‘COMMAND ELEMENT’ sent with a “CHILLING MESSAGE” to Pres Mugabe!

Moyo has been very outspoken in his criticism of Mnangagwa and the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and has declared that they will not last because they violated the sacred month of November.
