Mugabe, Mujuru And Biti To Appear In Court As Witnesses

Zimbabwe’s former President, Robert Mugabe is set to appear in court together with former Finance Minister Tendai Biti and former Vice President Joice Mujuru as witnesses in former Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi’s case.

Daily News reports that the three are set to appear as witnesses after the Office of the President and Cabinet refused to release documents Mzembi’s lawyer Job Sikhala wanted to use. Mzembi was arrested last week by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) together with former Energy Minister Samuel Undenge on charges of criminal abuse of office. The two were granted bail.

Charges against Mzembi are that sometime in 2010, as Tourism Minister he initiated a motion to acquire LED Public Viewing Area televisions for the public nationwide in an effort to establish Fan Parks for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The State says Mzembi was given $2 million by Treasury which was under Biti at the time. The court heard on Saturday that the money was deposited into Shanghai Linso Digital Technology Company’s bank account in China as payment for the equipment.

  1. agree with you Ash. we gain nothing from harassing Mudhara Bob. its a pity people are turning a blind eye t all the good that he did and are only focusing on the negatives.

    1. He’s not being harrased if you read carefully. He’s being subpoenaed to testify as a witness. Allow due process to take its course, please. You had no problem with this old man leading the country as a president his nineties, and now you think he’s too old to stand in court as a witness for a few minutes? What a hypocrite!

  2. Age is just a number, let’s call a spade a spade .He must appear in court and testify. Remember this old man would address a rally for more than two hours trying to convince us that he was the right man to lead Zimbabwe. He must be grilled by a prosecutor the whole day until he faints.

  3. all these witnesses are liars, have lied are known t stretch the truth to suit their own gains, distort fact and generally talk shit!!! how can they be trustworthy witnesses??
