President Emmerson Mnangagwa has paid a courtesy call on former prime minister and leader of the opposition MDC-T party, Morgan Tsvangirai. The President visited Tsvangirai at his Highlands House. Mnangagwa was checking on the health of Morgan Tsvangirai, who is battling cancer, among other things. The president who was accompanied by his deputy, former commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, General (Retired) Constantino Chiwenga was met by Tsvangirai’s wife, Elizabeth Macheka, MDC-T vice-president Mr Nelson Chamisa, and MDC-T’s director of elections Mr Murisi Zwizvayi.
The president told the media that the visit was not a meeting of any kind, saying that he just wanted to check on Tsvangirai’s health. He also said that there was no talk of entering another government of national unity (GNU). Said the President
There was no meeting. He’s fine. He is recuperating very well. He says he will soon go back for further medical check-ups in South Africa.
What’s the cause? We’re a democratic country, people can lobby for anything. Currently, there is no need (for GNU).
