Wicknell Chivayo Still In Trouble As Govt Demands Documents

Intratrek owner Wicknell Chivayo is still in trouble after the National Economic Conduct Inspectorate (NECI) requested for documents relating to the Gwanda Solar Project and Munyati Power Station.

This comes after reports that Chivayo was allegedly arrested over his irregular dealing with the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA).  Chivayo was advanced $5 million in controversial circumstances by the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) when his company, Intratek won the tender for the Gwanda Solar Power Project. Despite receiving the money, no progress has been made on the project resulting in the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) taking over the management of the project.

However Chivayo’s lawyer, Advocate Thabani Mpofu denied the reports and said that his client was never arrested. The letter from the NECI requests Chivayo to supply Intratrek bank statements from January 2015 to date. The letter from NECI reads:

This letter serves as a follow up to the request for documents done through a letter dated 7 December 2017 and a subsequent meeting between NECI officers and the Managing Director, Mr. Wicknell Chivayo, on the same date.

NECI is still waiting for the urgent delivery of the documents below:
