General S.B Moyo Slams Biti, Mavhinga, Godwin For Testifying Before US Senate, Says 37 Years Damage Cannot Be Corrected In 2 Weeks

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Retired Major General Sibusiso Moyo has criticised the three Zimbabweans who appeared before the United States Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee, Tendai Biti, Dewa Mavhinga and Peter Godwin. The general said that it would take longer than two weeks to undo the damage of 37 years. Moyo added that there was no need to invite foreign referees as people were free to choose their leaders through the ballot box. Here is part of his statement.

Zimbabwe’s new government has been in office for shorter than two weeks [and] it is staggering that these gentlemen should have expected the deeds of 37 years to be corrected and livelihoods improved in such a short time.

As if that myopia was not enough, the trio and others requested their American hosts for more of the same policies which have inflicted suffering on our people. How could any serious putative future leader of our country ask that ZIDERA remains in place?

All of us should be working to revive our economy, till our fertile soil and trade more competitively so that we all realise better health delivery, education and improved welfare in general.

There is no need to invite outside referees whose own fate has no relationship to ours. Let us advance our political goals without inviting punitive measures by strangers on our fellow citizens

Any leadership changes can, therefore, be gotten at the ballot box. There is no need to go abroad and seek assistance to further harm one’s own country. All Zimbabweans are free to canvas for political fortunes of their choice. Let us do this without reversing the promise of our new dawn. All nations of goodwill are invited to assist us to regain our position in the family of nations, not as beggars but, as a prospering and vibrant democracy.

  1. Were any Zimbabwe government officials invited to this Senate Sub-Committee meeting? If not, that is really rude. Sanctions were imposed, can be lifted, and if they don’t love us, they can impose them again. We are trying to forge a new and different future and for goodness sake, give us a chance. It is almost as if you are not a Zanu PF supporter, you don’t want sanctions lifted or foreign aid to come, nor want any possibility of success to be achieved under our new and current governance. We need to think and talk on behalf of Zimbabweans for the best scenario for Zimbabwe and not for personal opinon.

  2. These opposition guys want to fix Zimbabwe so that we vote them and later consider them our political messiahs no to that-democracy of begging sanctions- a big shit to them,Mdc shall never rule Zimbabwe

  3. Biti,Mavhinga,Chamisa& Ngaruvhume i nhubu idzo, mharapatsetse chaidzo who went to America to betray our nation for their own selfish gain-their want for power.Their clear intention is to use america’s formidability to cow n body else in their path for ascendancy.Itz clear, they don’t care abt n body else other than themselves;the easiest way would SIMPLY b to engage ED rather to invite America; such a dangerous power which may continue to destabilize the welfare of our ordinary citizens. But ED had hinted at reform wani.Bec America despite all pretense will first hit the ordinary people forcing them to discredit ED creating a clear&free path for Tsvangirai& team’s ascendancy-which is dangerous & bad politicking. We don’t need a foreign power here-especially such a muscular one like the USA.Simple campaigning, even at the so called unlevel playing field,n popular person would win, instead of engaging in such dirt tactics
