We Do Not Ever Want To Hear Any Excuses And Lamentations Of Sanctions: Mliswa Tells President and Cabinet

Outspoken member of parliament for Norton, Temba Mliswa has called on the administration of President Emmerson Mnangagwa to produce results for the country and not to hide behind the excuse of sanctions. Mliswa advised President Mnangagwa and his first Cabinet, which was sworn in on Monday, that as they are fully aware of the sanctions, they should make plans to work around the sanctions and grow the economy regardless. Mliswa also gave the example of former Prime Minister of Rhodesia, Ian Smith, saying that Rhodesia had been able to grow its economy as well as wage a war, despite being under sanctions.

Writing on micro-blogging website Twitter, Mliswa said:

Note to the President and his Cabinet…
please, we do not ever want to hear any excuses and Lamentations of Sanctions or any such excuse. When you got in, you all knew that sanctions were there. So we expect you to plan and implement policy with that consideration in mind.

Ian Smith grew the industry under sanctions, the man built his economy and sustained a war while under sanctions

Mliswa’s call is refreshing, as some politicians have taken to using sanctions as a convenient excuse while disregarding poor management and corruption.
