Ray Goba sworn in as Prosecutor General

Ray Goba was sworn in as Zimbabwe’s Prosecutor General yesterday. This comes after former President, Robert Mugabe tried to nullify his appointment and had directed the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) to re-advertise the post.

Speaking after taking his oath of office, Goba said that since he has been acting Prosecutor General for sometime he will just be taking over from where he left. Said Goba:

I feel honoured and I promise to deliver to expectation. I took the same oath of office last year as acting PG and this one is more of a reminder of the same oath. I have been bound by the same oath since last year and I will continue being bound by the oath. Today, I have been reminded of the responsibilities which I have to carry on my shoulder.

Goba replaced former PG Mr Johannes Tomana, who was fired for incompetence and misconduct.
