Reduce Motorcade and Security In Order To Lower Expenditure: Mliswa Advises Mnangagwa

Independent legislator for Norton, Temba Mliswa has advised President Emmerson Mnangagwa to cut down on government expenditure by reducing the size of his security contingent and the size of his motorcade. Mliswa said that Mnangagwa should avoid making the same mistakes that his predecessor, former President Robert Mugabe made and follow the examples of Ian Khama and Jacob Zuma instead.

Said Mliswa:

I saw the State security being firm on stopping people to greet him (President Mnangagwa) that was Mugabe’s downfall. The moment Mugabe ceased to be the people’s person, he lost it.

The President must cut down on his motorcade and the size of his security team. Look at (Botswana President Ian) Khama, (Jacob) Zuma (South African President) their security teams are not as big as ours. Government expenditure must equally come down.

The convoy that accompanied Mnangagwa from Manyame Airbase on his return to the country on Wednesday, raised eyebrows as it had at least 40 cars.
