Norman Mapeza made history as FC Platinum won the Castle Premier Soccer League title after beating Chapungu 2-0 in a match played at Ascot Stadium on Saturday. Goals from Rodwell Chinyengetere and Ali Sadiki were enough to hand FC Platinum the title with a 2 point lead over Dynamos who also won their last match against Chicken Inn.
Mapeza became the second coach to win the championship with a team from outside Harare or Bulawayo since 1966. The last time a team from outside Harare or Bulawayo won the PSL title was in 1966 when the now-defunct ST Paul’s FC, then based in Musami, Murewa, won the title under the guidance of Antony Edward Davies. This is Mapeza’s second league title as a coach since guiding Monomotapa to glory in 2008.
