Chombo fails to appear in court after falling ill, Chipanga expected to appear in court today

Finance Minister Ignatius Chombo is expected to appear in court today. Former Zanu-PF Youth League secretary Kudzanai Chipanga,is also likely to appear in court today facing charges of inciting violence through a speech insulting Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander General Constantino Chiwenga, he made to the local media on November 14, 2017.

Chombo failed to appear at the Harare magistrate’s court after he had to be taken to Parirenyatwa hospital for treatment where he was admitted under police guard. Chombo stands accused of corruption and abuse of power dating back to the time he was Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing. He is accused of using his political influence to amass wealth. Chombo’s various properties were exposed during the divorce case with his estranged wife, Marian Mhloyi.
