Mnangagwa tears into Grace Mugabe, G40 in first address as Zanu-PF President

Soon to be President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa tore into Grace Mugabe and her G40 allies in his first address as Zanu-PF President and First Secretary.

Mnangagwa asked whose head had been crushed in reference to former first lady Grace Mugabe’s Super Sunday speech where she referred Mnangagwa to a snake whose head should be crushed. Said Mnangagwa:

Nhema dzakataurwa dzakawanda, Vakati topwanya musoro zinyoka iri. Handizivi kuti musoro wapwanywa ndewani. Mwari ndiye anotungamira.

Mnangagwa said he fled the country and went into exile because within two hours of him getting his letter of dismissal, he was informed that his life was in danger as there were plans to eliminate him. Mnangagwa also said that the G40 had “captured” the executive.

Mnangagwa also pledged to build the economy and provide employment. He called on all Zimbabweans to partner with the Zanu-PF Government in building the economy. Said Mnangagwa:

He also thanked the people of Zimbabwe for supporting the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) and said that the SADC region was pleased in the peaceful transition of power.
