Mnangagwa Pays Courtesy Call on Zuma Before Returning Home

The South African government has confirmed that former Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa paid a courtesy call on South African President Jacob Zuma before returning to Zimbabwe. The images were shared by the South African government online today. Mnangagwa is set to return to Zimbabwe today and to be sworn in as the country’s new President after Robert Mugabe resigned on Tuesday. Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda said that Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet Misheck Sibanda had confirmed that the swearing in will take place on Friday.

Mnangagwa left the country and went into exile after he had been fired from both the government and the Zanu-PF party. There had been multiple reports of his whereabouts with some saying South Africa and others saying China. At the very least, South Africa has confirmed that Mnangagwa was there at some point.
