The Zanu-PF Youth League has joined other Zanu-PF organs in calling for President Robert Mugabe to step down. In a surprising turn of events, the Youth League which only last week was saying that it was prepared to die for President Robert Mugabe has now joined the bandwagon calling for Mugabe to step down. The Youth League also called for the expulsion of First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe from Zanu PF. Only last week the same youth league was proposing Grace Mugabe for Vice President after Emmerson Mnangagwa was fired. The youths are now saying that Mnangagwa should be reinstated after the Zimbabwe Defence Forces seized power from Mugabe in a military intervention.
The Youth League also demonstrated in solidarity with the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF)’s military intervention to target criminals around President Mugabe on Saturday.
The spokesman for the youth national executive, Yeukai Simbanegavi called for the immediate reinstatement of Emmerson Mnangagwa as the Vice President of the country and Second Secretary of Zanu PF. Youth League Leader Kudzanai Chipanga appeared on national television apologising to the military commanders for denigrating them in a statement he read out before the military takeover took place.
