Avowed supporter of former vice-president Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF Member of Parliament (MP) for Gokwe-Nembudziya, Justice Mayor Wadyajena has claimed that Minister of Foreign Affairs Walter Mzembi is seeking asylum from the Cubans. Mzembi is reported to be one the G40 Ministers being targeted by the military.
When the Zimbabwe Defence Forces seized power on Wednesday morning, Mzembi was out of the country on business and thus avoided being detained. According to Zimbabwe National Liberation Var Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) chair Christopher Mutsvangwa, Mzembi as been attempting to make overtures to the regional leaders in Sadc, to get support for under fire President Robert Mugabe.
