Mugabe and Chiwenga pictured laughing together at "coup" negotiations
A photo taken today at the negotiations for the transition of power in Zimbabwe after the military takeover, show General Constantino Chiwenga and President Mugabe laughing together. This is strange, as Chiwenga led a military takeover against Mugabe that started just 2 days ago.
The two leaders were laughing together as they posed for photos, in a manner very uncharacteristic of a coup.
The military has made effort to push a position that the takeover is not a coup. Via broadcasts on the national broadcaster, ZBC, and state-owned newspaper, The Herald, official reports have emphasised the peace prevailing in the country as well as the “business-as-usual” atmosphere by citizens.
Earlier today, it was confirmed that Mugabe has agreed to resign.
