Today, Zimbabweans woke up to the news that the Zimbabwe Defence Forces have announced that they have taken over the country although they have stressed that this is not a military takeover of the government. The military said it simply wants to arrest all the alleged criminals around President Robert Mugabe. The intervention came after the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces General Constantino Chiwenga warned that the military would intervene if purges in Zanu-PF were not stopped.
Here is how some Zimbabweans have reacted to the situation:
When the gunners got to Chombo mansion, they just crashed the gate. Now they use the curtain down to close off the stolen wealth. Where is that showy Pokello now? pic.twitter.com/cJUTV4HrVc

The Youth League would want to confirm the detention of Cde K Chipanga. His safety has been guaranteed & has implored us to comply with the National Democratic Project which is underway.
We would also want to commend the military for conducting the NDP with minimal force.

In all this drama of the past few hours, we have forgot to ask where is Mphoko? The country's vice president who said he was "lonely."

In Harare i havent witnessed any violence this morning. There's an uneasy calm. Not many cars out here; most people have stayed indoors. Soldiers are conducting stop-and-searches on major roads.

Political lives can change very fast. This is why every bad politician must own a private jet. The great escape!

I foresee a lot of Constantinos being registered ku ma Bheth in August 2018. Probably a couple of Coups (pronounced like the chicken place) for good measure.
