Army tanks seen in and around Harare after Chiwenga warns Mugabe and Zanu-PF

Videos are circulating on social media of citizens reporting that tanks have been seen in various parts of the country. This comes after Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Commander Constantino Chiwenga delivered a press statement warning President Robert Mugabe and Zanu-PF to stop purging war veterans from the party.

In the statement Chiwenga said that the military would not hesitate to step in. Said Chiwenga:

We must remind those behind the current treacherous shenanigans that, when it comes to matters of protecting our revolution, the military will not hesitate to step in.

In response, the party’s Youth League accused Chiwenga of subverting the constitution. Said Kudzai Chipanga:

We will not fold out hands to allow a creature of the constitution to subvert the very constitution which establishes it. Defending the revolution and our leader and president is an ideal we live for and if need be it is a principle we are prepared to die for.

There is no confirmation as to the reason why various tanks were seen in and around Harare but we will update you as soon as we get information.
