Mnangagwa now in China, raises speculation if he will meet Chiwenga

Daily News reports that former vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa is now hiding in China after fleeing Zimbabwe following his dismissal by President Robert Mugabe. Mnangagwa arrived in China on Thursday night from South Africa.

It is not clear whether China will be his final destination given that Mnangagwa has vast contacts not only in the East Asian nation but across the world including countries such as Belarus, Russia, Mozambique and South Africa. Mnangagwa is highly regarded in China, after making an impression in Beijing during his visit to that country between July 6 and 10, 2015. Apparently, Mnangwagwa’s close ally and Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander, Constantino Chiwenga is also in China and it remains unclear whether the two would meet.

Outspoken Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association chairperson Christopher Mutsvangwa is now in South Africa amid indications that he may be assessing the situation from there before coming back home.
