He is a border jumper: Zanu-PF Ministers Mock ED, Say He Should Be Investigated For Embezzling Command Agric Funds

Former vice-president Emmerson Mnangagwa who was sacked from the government on Monday is reported to have attempted to leave the country via Mutare’s Forbes Border Post. Some reports claim that Mnangagwa had to turn back after he denied permission to cross into Mozambique. His former subordinates wasted no time in mocking him for allegedly trying to skip the country.  The ministers made the allegations at the Solidarity March organised by Zanu-PF Harare Province.

First up was Minister of State for Manicaland Province, Mandi Chimene who mocked Mnangagwa for attempting to skip the country for Mocambique. Said Chimene,

He is a border jumper

Chimene had previously called out Mnangagwa telling him to make it clear that he had no interest in taking power from President Robert Mugabe. Chimene then asked Mugabe to purge the party of remaining members of Team Lacoste.

This was followed by Minister of Local Government Saviour Kasukuwere who in concluding his slogan shouted:

Pasi na Emmerson Mnangagwa boarder jumper!

Kasukuwere’s brother and Zanu-PF Mashonaland Central Province chairperson Dickson Mafios said that Mnangagwa should be investigated for embezzling Command Agriculture funds. Mafios also claimed that Mnangagwa had jumped the border and was now in Mocambique. He added that all the ministers who worked with Mnangagwa on the Command Agriculture programme should be investigated for abuse of funds.

Minister of Finance and Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration Ignatius Chombo also said that he had received intelligence that the former VP had skipped the border into Mocambique.

Apart  from a terse statement from his spokesperson, Mnangagwa is yet to publicly comment on his sacking.
