The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) has responded to reports circulating online that candidates will rewrite Mathematics Paper 1 on November 23 after it was accessed by at least 12 candidates last week.
Zimsec spokesperson Ms Nicky Dlamini yesterday dismissed the social media messages and said the leaked paper will not be rewritten. Said Dlamini:
Just like what we said in the Press statement, it was just a handful of people and there is no extensive damage that warrants that candidates sit for another examination. It is stressful when rumours and lies are being peddled about an examination that you are writing. It will cause unnecessary panic and stress for candidates. So it’s up to society to help these candidates because as an institution we can’t go out and conduct an outreach to them. But as a society we protect the candidates by curbing these rumours.
In a statement Zimsec also admitted that Maths Paper 1 leaked to at least a dozen of independent candidates.

Thats really painfull to us who didnt even get a single paper before exams . ..am really sick now this is getting too much . I wonder y the President last year refused to let us rewrite the papers now some candidates r out of the country this wont help ….. it will be just be a lesson to those coming candidates for 2018 ……

Even if we rewrite how we will know that the paper haven’t leaked again doesn’t make sense ………How about some of us who are raising money to feather our studies how will we come back bcz we haven’t get paid yet and we are very far we can not make it …….Parents Students plizzz do something on it …..And clearly I think the minister of P and Sec Education is trying to rob some money just lyk the other plizzz follow his tracks coz we can’t afford to have more corruption in our Gvt

This issue of exam paper leaking before exams is really streessful cause even if there were a handful candidates who accessed the paper before exams, the fact is every candidate who has written the some paper is compromised, Zimsec please engage as students so that we come with ways of dealing with this issue…..there is no need to study the whole year for something that some candidates can buy and thats just unfair to some of us who worl hard
One week is not enough to prepare for maths
This is not good it’s very terrible we as the students we are suffering from stress because of some students n their unskilled teachers thus not our baby to nurse

Even if You suggest for a rewrite corrupt students will have the paper again before the exam day ,so think twice while You are at it.Some had already planned the next step and now this?? Bring back Cambridge if Zimsec is failing to stop this matter!
We can’t rewrite the paper but what they have to do is they must not mark the answer bt they must mark working
