Fadzayi Mahere questions why Zanu-PF MP has not been arrested for pre-commissioning affidavits
Human rights activist and aspiring member of parliament for Mount Pleasant Advocate Fadzayi Mahere has questioned why the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has not arrested Zanu-PF MP for Mount Pleasant Jaison Passade for pre-commissioning proof of residence affidavits. Blank affidavits which had been signed and stamped by Passade were found in Mount Pleasant, something which is illegal. Mahere accused the ZRP of colluding with Passade, as police officers were alleged to be directing people to get the pre-commissioned proof of residence affidavits from “behind the tent.”
Mahere contrasted this situation with that of five MDC-T members including a councillor who were arrested in Hatfield after they were caught in possession of over 2000 copies of pre-commissioned affidavits. They were distributing the affidavits to enable people seeking a proof of residence document to register as voters in Hatfield.
