Zanu-PF suspends Mnangagwa's allies ahead of special congress

Zanu-PF has suspended Masvingo Provincial Chairperson Ezra Chidzamira, Masvingo Provincial Youth League Secretary for Commissariat Brian Munyoro and Midlands Pronvincial Youth League Secretary for Administration Justice Mayor Wadyajena. The prohibition order and notice of charges were served in terms of Section 79 of the Zanu-PF Constitution. The trio is allegedly aligned to Team Lacoste which is a faction sympathetic to Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s.

According to their letters of suspension, the trio was suspended for causing factionalism among other charges. Chidzamira was suspended for:

a) Fermenting. propagating and inciting tribal hatred in Masvingo Province.

b) Churning out hate speech targeted on other Party leaders

c) Indulging in cheap gossip and lies that cause divisions among Party members in the Province.

d) Uttering public statements that are grossly disrespectful of senior leaders of the Party.

e) Making slogans that denigrate Pan) leaders.

f) Failure as Provincial Chairman, Member of Parliament and Member at the Central Committee to guide the smooth running of Party programmes in the Province.

Chidzamira was appointed Masvingo chairman in May after he trounced war veteran Retired Colonel Mutero Masanganise in elections marred by controversy. In the run up to the elections  Masanganise announced his withdrawal in a letter to Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration Ignatius Chombo. However, Zanu-PF Politburo member Cain Mathema, who was appointed by the Politburo to co-supervise the polls, said the elections would go ahead citing that he did not receive formal communication indicating that Rtd Col Masanganise had withdrawn from the race.

Wadyajena was suspended for:

a) Fermenting, propagating and inciting rebellious behaviour in the Party.

b) Churning out hate speech targeted on other Patty leaders.

c) Indulging in cheap social media gossip and lies that cause divisions among Party members.

d) Uttering public statements that are grossly disrespectful of senior leaders of the Party.

e) Making slogans that denigrate Party leaders.

f) Obstructing the smooth running of Party programmes in the Midlands Province.

Munyoro was suspended for:

a) Fermenting. propagating and inciting tribal hatred in the Party.

b) Churning out hate speech targeted on other Party leaders. 

c) Indulging in cheap gossip and lies that cause divisions among Party members.

d) Uttering public statements that are grossly disrespectful of senior leaders of the Party.

e) Making slogans that denigrate Party leaders.

The trio will be advised on when they will appear before Zanu-PF’s National Disciplinary Committee.
