Mujuru courts Tsvangirai to form bigger coalition to face Mugabe

People’s Rainbow Coalition (PRC) presidential candidate, Joice Mujuru is courting MDC Alliance leader Morgan Tsvangirai to form a bigger coalition to face President Robert Mugabe in the 2018 elections.

Speaking to NewsDay, National People’s Party (NPP) secretary-general and acting treasurer-general Gift Nyandoro confirmed the development and said Mujuru is ready to form a coalition with Tsvangirai. Said Nyandoro:

We stated our definition of a people’s coalition and we are prepared to find anyone within that scope and that’s what we have simply done. We don’t look at personalities, but we are value and principle-driven. If we are wrong, then history shall judge us accordingly. Consensus building is a process that requires honesty, integrity and sincerity. It’s not about one claiming to be strong over the other, but coming up with a framework that promotes confidence and unity within the rank and file.

MDC-T spokesperson Obert Gutu said that they were still in talks with the NPP to form a broader coalition.
