Motorists warned against driving vehicles without number plates

Addressing a news conference which was also attended by transport stakeholders as well as the police, ZINARA and the Traffic Safety board, Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister Joram Gumbo warned motorists against using unregistered vehicles.

Gumbo said that a number of vehicles are being used without displaying vehicle registration number plates and this is a violation of the vehicle registration and licensing act which stipulates the need for vehicles to be registered and to always display their registration numbers. He said some of the vehicles are used to carry out crimes.

Minister Gumbo said some garages and car sale owners are also non compliant as they keep unregistered motor vehicles on their premises for more than the permitted 14 days from day of importation as stipulated by the law and drive them at night.
