Zanu-PF legislator for Highfield West, Psychology Maziwisa has said that the decision by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to rescind its decision to appoint President Robert Mugabe as a goodwill ambassador for non-communicable diseases is a blessing in disguise.
Maziwisa said that the decision by WHO director general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus had the unintended consequence of increasing Mugabe’s popularity. Below are a series of tweets by Maziwisa:
Your rescission has had the unintended consequence of bolstering public affection for Pres Mugabe in Zim & Africa. Blessing in disguise. https://t.co/d4QDndrKXp

Make no mistake: Zimbabweans have just been emboldened in their love for Pres Mugabe. The stakes have been raised much higher by #WHO.

You may defeat him diplomatically, but you'll never defeat him electorally. Zimbabwe will never be a colony again. #WHO
