G40 War Veterans Faction Urges Vigilance as Civil War May Be Near

George Mlala the vice chairperson of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association (ZNLWVA) has said that war veterans are prepared to defend President Mugabe from those aiming to remove him from power. He also warned that war veterans were the military wing of Zanu-PF and would follow commands from their leaders. He urged the war veterans to stay vigilant as war was a possibility. Addressing a group of war veterans t the Zanu PF Davies Hall in Bulawayo on Wednesday, George Mlala said:

We are the military wing of Zanu PF and we are ready to defend the party and we are ready to take instructions from our leaders.

They (Christopher Mutsvangwa led Faction) claim to be targeting Grace whom they accuse to be the leader of the G40 but we know that their target is President Mugabe.

We are ready to push you out and we will do so if you continue with your plot.

We cannot keep quiet and watch when such things are happening and people are insulting the party president. We must be vigilant because a war might be near
