The National Social Security Authority (NSSA) is set to have some of its property worth $628 000 auctioned off after it lost a labour case at the High Court. The High Court ordered NSSA to pay former chief strategic assets officer Chikuni Mutiswa $628 336,23 in damages for unlawful dismissal. Mutiswa was dismissed after serving for only six months. He was dismissed after he refused to have his probation period extended from 3 months to 6 months when he had already signed a contract. The property was attached yesterday afternoon by officials from the Sheriff of the High Court.
The attachment order which was witnessed by Chief Justice Luke Malaba reads:
You are required and directed to attach and take into execution the movable goods of NSSA the above mentioned Defendant, of NSSA house, Cnr Selous avenue and Sam Nujoma Street, Harare, and of the same cause to be realised the sum of $628 336,23 together with interest thereon at the prescribed rate from the date of issuing summons to the date of full and final settlement, in favour of Chikuni Mutiswa the above mentioned Plaintiff which he recovered by judgment of this Court dated October 4, 2017 in the above mention suit and also all other costs and charges besides all your costs thereby incurred.
