Four armed robbers were arrested while one was gunned down by police detectives on Sunday near Dulivhadzimo area in Beitbridge. The deceased, who has been identified as Kedha, was shot in the head and died at the scene after he tried to charge at armed police. Kedha and his gang had been terrorising Beitbridge residents and were responsible for armed robberis around the town. The gang also preyed on people who illegally crossed into and out of South Africa along the Limpopo river.
The gang was tracked using one of the mobile phones it stole from an EcoCash dealer recently. The names of Kedha’s four accomplices are yet to be established. A source who spoke to the Chronicle said:
The gang used various weapons including guns, iron bars and knives to attack their victims.
They ran out of luck when a crack unit swooped on them near Dulivhadzimo area on a road leading to the gorge where violent crimes are rife.
