EcoCash suspends international transactions for Mastercard, will allow users to deposit only USD

Mobile money company EcoCash has suspended its Mastercard Debit Card for all international transactions with immediate effect. The card will need to be prefunded from the 1st of November for international transactions.  This means that people will need to deposit actual cash before using the card.

Pindula reached out to EcoCash and they clarified that customers will need to deposit actual United States dollars (and not bond notes) beforehand for the card to work.  This also means that the card will not work when funded using electronic money.
