75 political parties set to contest 2018 Elections: ZEC

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has revealed that 75 political parties have registered to contest the 2018 general elections. Addressing a Political Parties Forum Dialogue Tuesday in Harare, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) chairperson Rita Makarau said:

Am told that political parties that will be contesting the next general elections that have registered are now 75 compared to the 35 when we last had our meeting.

To date, 25 571 people have been registered countrywide as at 2 October 2017.

And the Commission has since received delivery of the outstanding 2600 kits for the BVR blitz.

She also urged the political parties to make sure that their supporters registered to votes during the ongoing Biometric Voter Registration.  Said Makarau:
