ZEC to use Vaseline for unreadable fingerprints at biometric voter registration (BVR) machines
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has said that it will be using Vaseline at biometric voter registration (BVR) centres after receiving complaints that the BVR kits were having problems reading some people’s fingerprints.
Zec commissioner Joyce Kazembe told reporters:
To say why are machines not reading other finger prints, yes we know that can happen, even at the police station, taking finger prints can be a problem…and now that we know it can happen, tichapota tichiisa (we shall apply) Vaseline.
