Celebration Church disputes Council’s $846 564 water bill

Celebration Church has disputed that it owes Harare City Council  $846 564 in unpaid water bills. The church says it only owes $154 520,95 with their lawyer Mr Alex Mambosasa stating that the matter is pending before the High Court under Case No HC 606/ 17 and council’s claim is for an amount of less than $400 000. The church agreed to service the debt at a rate of $7 000 per month.

Mambosasa said that council continued to bill Celebration Church for water when it has been relying exclusively on borehole since the pre-dollarisation era. He said calculations done by Celebration Church show that an amount of $154 520,95 is lawfully due to the city.
